Fast Fridge helps you decide what to cook by photographing your fridge and pantry to identify ingredients and suggest recipes. The app is designed with a local-first, privacy-respecting architecture.
2. Camera & Photo Usage
The app uses your device camera to photograph your fridge and pantry.
Photos are sent securely over HTTPS to our servers for AI-powered ingredient identification.
Photos are processed in real-time and are never stored on our servers.
Only the names of identified ingredients are returned to your device.
You must consent to photo processing before your first scan.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device in a SQLite database. None of this data is transmitted to any server:
Household member names and preferences
Pantry "always have" items
Recipe ratings and cooking history
App settings and preferences
4. Third-Party Services
Fast Fridge uses the following third-party services in a limited capacity:
Anthropic (Claude AI) — processes photos for ingredient identification. Photos are transmitted securely and are not stored by Anthropic. See Anthropic's privacy policy for more information.
Spoonacular — provides recipe data based on ingredient names only. No photos or personal data are sent to Spoonacular.
5. In-App Purchases
Purchase records for the Pro upgrade are managed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We store a local record of your Pro status on your device only. No purchase data is sent to our servers.
6. No Tracking & No Analytics
Fast Fridge does not use any analytics SDKs, does not track your location, and does not serve advertisements. We do not collect any usage telemetry.
7. Community Recipes
Fast Fridge includes an optional feature that allows you to share recipes with the community. If you choose to share a recipe:
What is collected: recipe title, cuisine, prep time, servings, ingredients, and steps.
What is not collected: your name, email address, account information, or any photos.
Anonymous submission: a one-way cryptographic hash of your device identifier is stored solely for rate limiting (preventing spam). It cannot be reversed to identify you.
Review before publishing: submitted recipes are reviewed by the developer before appearing in the community section. Not all submissions will be approved.
Retention: approved recipes are stored indefinitely on our servers. Rejected or removed recipes are not displayed to users.
Removal requests: to request removal of a recipe you submitted, email jcapps.contactus@gmail.com with the recipe title. We will process requests within 30 days.
Sharing a recipe is always opt-in. Core app features do not require sharing anything.
8. Data Deletion
All personal data is stored locally on your device. Deleting the Fast Fridge app removes all associated data. If you have submitted a community recipe, see Section 7 for removal requests.
9. Children's Privacy
Fast Fridge does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
